Mixing Ipamorelin: What to Know Before You Reconstitute

Ipamorelin is a growth hormone secretagogue sold as a lyophilized powder, most commonly in 2 mg, 5 mg, and 10 mg vials. Its reconstitution is straightforward, and the practical questions are the same ones that come up with any microgram-dosed peptide: how much water to add so the draws are readable, and how to handle the vial when it is running alongside CJC-1295, which is the pairing most people are running.

  1. Bacteriostatic water vs. sterile water

Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative and is the standard choice for any vial that will be drawn from more than once. Sterile water has no preservative and is generally treated as single use. Ipamorelin is typically dosed frequently, so the vial is punctured many times, and bacteriostatic water is what people use.

  2. How much water to add

The water volume sets concentration, not the amount of peptide. Ipamorelin doses are usually in the microgram range, so the choice matters mainly for readability of the draw.

    5 mg2.5 mL2.0 mg/mL20 mcg10 units15 units
    10 mg3 mL3.33 mg/mL33.3 mcg6 units9 units

A useful trick visible in this table: mixing to a round 20 mcg per unit, as 5 mg in 2.5 mL does, makes mental math simple, since every 100 mcg is exactly 5 units. Several of the common water volumes are chosen for this reason rather than for anything about the peptide itself.

  3. Mixing technique

Water down the inside wall, not onto the powder. Swirl slowly or let it sit until dissolved. No shaking. The result should be clear. Ipamorelin generally dissolves quickly.

  4. Storage before and after mixing

Unopened vials keep cool and dark. Reconstituted vials go in the refrigerator with the standard 28 day discard convention from punctured bacteriostatic water. When ipamorelin runs alongside CJC-1295, the two vials are usually mixed on the same day and therefore expire on the same day, which is worth noting somewhere other than memory.

  5. The syringe

U-100 insulin syringes, 100 units per mL. As with other microgram-dosed peptides, the 0.3 mL and 0.5 mL syringes are often preferred because their markings are further apart and small draws are easier to read.

  6. Common mistakes worth avoiding

Recurring ones: trying to combine ipamorelin and CJC-1295 in one vial, using too little water so doses land at 3 or 4 units, mcg to mg conversion errors, forgetting that two vials mixed the same day share an expiration, and reusing a previous unit count after mixing a new vial at a different volume.

FAQ

How much bacteriostatic water do I mix with 5 mg of ipamorelin?
Commonly 2 mL to 2.5 mL. At 2.5 mL the concentration is 2 mg/mL, or 20 mcg per unit, which makes a 200 mcg dose exactly 10 units. Water volume changes only the concentration, so pick the one that gives you a readable draw.
Can ipamorelin and CJC-1295 be mixed in the same vial?
They are commonly run together but reconstituted separately. Two compounds in one vial makes each one's concentration unclear and prevents adjusting either independently.
How long does reconstituted ipamorelin last in the fridge?
The widely followed convention is about 28 days refrigerated, based on the discard window for punctured bacteriostatic water.
Why are my ipamorelin draws so small?
Because microgram doses at typical concentrations produce draws of only a few units. Adding more bacteriostatic water lowers the concentration and spreads the same dose across more units, which is easier to measure accurately.
What size syringe do people use for ipamorelin?
Frequently the 0.3 mL or 0.5 mL U-100 syringe, since the wider spacing between markings makes small draws easier to read than on a 1 mL syringe.
